| Description: | A Petroleum Storage Tank Inspection was conducted on December 18, 2019, by Juliana Suarez-Mitnik and David Maloney, Environmental Specialists with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (Department) and Carl Joseph, Building Manager with Broward County Facilities Management. The facility had one 6,000-gallon underground tank with double-wall piping connected to an emergency generator. The tank has a suction system. The piping sump was dry with some signs of rust, the boots were pulled back. The spill bucket is double wall, dry and no signs of rust. The tank is monitored by a Veeder-Root TLS 300C that monitors the interstice, and it has a sensor for overfill; however, there is no audible or visual alarm near the tank to let anyone know if the tank is filled to 95% capacity . The facility has a contract with Florida Metro to do the monthly inspections where they check the Veeder-Root sensors and visually inspect the piping sump and the spill bucket. All Paperwork has not been provided to the Department. The facility did not provide the Department with the annual operability test for the Veeder- Root; the facility has not designated a specific overfill protection. the facility did not provide the Department with the integrity test for the piping sump and the spill bucket. The Facility has a designated person as an operator A and B, however, the facility has not provided the name of the C certified operator to the Department. The Department recommends cleaning, sealing ad painting any components beginning to show signs of rust, corrosion.
